Our Process

We are inspired by simple, everyday things which, through the act of noticing, make the ordinary extraordinary. Here's a snapshot of our process, but if you want to know more, get in touch.

Gathering Materials

Throughout the seasons, we forage items or source natural pigments to make dyes to use on Irish Linen.

Dyeing

The messy bit. Dyeing is a complex and fun multi-step process, from scouring and mordanting the fabric to dyeing, rinsing, washing, and drying. All the dyes and minerals we use are natural.

Composition + Colour Selection

With eclectic inspirations, we are always on the hunt for creative collisions. We love to experiment and blur the boundaries between abstract compositions, still life, and figurative work, following our gut and intuition. For colours, we rely on the soft and bold hues that natural dyeing generates. We test and test again until we think the piece speaks for itself.

Assemblage + Framing

From the original sketch, we trace the different elements, transfer them with iron-on adhesive paper to the fabric, and assemble them on a canvas frame. We prefer our fabric pieces in tray frames, which we source from a fantastic London framing shop, but we also ship without frames.

Overall, we think art has the power to be transcendent and may be the antidote to our daily distractions. If we manage to share this with the world, then we've completed our mission.
